A film, I Know a Man … Ashley Bryan, about the celebrated artist and children’s book author, plays on March 5 with a discussion hosted by Waterfall Arts and with renowned art curator Suzette McAvoy to follow.
For the past 53 years, Bryan lived and created on Little Cranberry Island after retiring from teaching at Dartmouth. Bryan was a poet, author/illustrator of over 70 children’s books, and made magical puppets and sea glass windows from found objects inspired by his African heritage. His life story and the art he made from his wellspring of life experiences are an inspiration to people of all ages.
In short, I Know a Man… celebrates the joy of life, the wonders of creativity, and one man’s love of humanity.
